The Practice is fortunate in having three primary care trained nursing sisters, two primary care trained nurses and a advanced nurse practitioner to provide treatment and consultation services. Our practice nursing sisters may be consulted on a range of general health issues and can advise on the practical aspects of dealing with many illnesses. Sister Swinburn has undergone training in family planning. They are able to undertake general health screening including the taking of cervical smears. They are available to advise about health aspects of foreign travel and to carry out foreign travel immunization. They assist the doctors with the care of long-term illnesses including heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma, diabetes and advice about special diets.
Appointments with one of the nursing sisters are available most mornings and most afternoons at both surgeries.
Diabetic Healthcare Assistant
Our Locality Community Care Team working from Hythe Hospital are a dedicated team led by the community Matron Mrs Jane Moore. They work with our practice population concentrating mainly with the nursing problems of the housebound. They have a particular interest in providing skilled nursing care in the home and in particular certain services more normally associated with hospitals to allow patients to remain at home in spite of illness. To contact them telephone 02380 428488 (answer phone) Expert advice is also available from community and specialist nurses about the management of leg ulcers, and chronic skin problems, and the assessment and management of stoma (colostomy etc) and continence problems. If you have any question or difficulty regarding any of the above, or about the management of a sick and housebound patient who needs help with nursing care at home, then please telephone our secretaries on: 02380 877900 who will try to assist you further or point you towards someone who may assist you further.
